A MUST READ HEART TOUCHING STORY ABOUT VICTOR MOSES.

This is the story of a young boy whose parents were murdered during 2002 riots in Kaduna. He was aged 11 years at the time. His parents, Mr Austine and Mrs Josephine Moses, were missionaries until they met their untimely death. The boy left his house to play football but returned home to see that all his parents had laboured for had been razed down and he would never see his mother and father again. He was taken to London by his uncle almost immediately after the incident. While in London, he began deploying his football skills. Though his parents were murdered, his passion for football was never killed. He played football for his school and later for a local Tandrige League club until Crystal Palace FC approached him. From that point, his career progressed in leaps and bounds. This player played for England's under 16, 17, 19 and 21 teams between 2005 and 2010 scoring 11 goals for England during this period. He later moved to Wigan Athletic and now he plays for Chelsea. T

A Lady Sold Her Virginity for$3.8 Million Through An Auction

WHAT A LIFE!!! Is a woman’s virginity worth $3.8 million? That’s how much a 22-year-old from SanDiego, California, said she has been offered through an auction she announced in September. The woman, who goes by “Natalie Dylan,” set up a private auction through the Moonlite Bunny Ranch, alegal brothel in Nevada. The auction has given her lots of “business opportunities,”she said. Her top bid comes from a 39-year-old Australian, but she has no immediate plans to settle the auction, she said in a recent interview with CNN. Some men may seek virgins because they want them as trophies, or desire purity. Butas to why men would bid so much money on virginity, she said she has no answer. “I honestly don’t know what they see in it,” she said.If you think Dylan’s auction amounts to prostitution, she completely agrees. She also said she’s not breaking any laws — after all, prostitution in Nevada is legal. Brett Austin Vanderzee, a 19-year-old student at Oklahoma Christian University who ha

TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT

Kunlé Adeyemi (born 7 April 1976) is a Nigerian-born, Netherlands-based architect, urbanist and creative researcher. He designed a floating school for the Makoko settlement in Lagos, and his ideas are now being made material. Makoko is home to about 250,000 people living mostly in makeshift structures on stilts. The main mode of transport is canoe, and the area is at constant risk of flooding. The three-story structure is 108 square feet at its base, and 33 feet high. It sits on a flotation deck made of 256 used plastic drums. The body is all locally sourced wood. The building is designed for about 100 students (aged 4 to 12), and has its own power system based around solar panels on the roof. The first building is nearly finished. Adeyemi hopes it can be a model for other flood-prone communities in Africa. Learn more:  Nigerian Architect Brings Hope to Makoko Slum With the Floating School Project (PICTURES)

BOKO HARAM TRAINING CAMPS FOUND IN MALI

Image
Hundreds of Boko Haram members stayed at training camps with Malian militants for months in Timbuktu, learning to fix Kalashnikovs and launch shoulder-fired weapons, a report has said. The Nigerians fled the city into the desert, along with the other militants, days before a French airstrike on January 20. A man who said he was hired to cook for the militants said the Boko Haram members trained for about 10 months at what is now a bombed-out customs-police building on Timbuktu’s desert fringe, intermingling with a local al Qaeda offshoot called Ansar Dine. "Every day I saw people coming here, saying they want to sign up," said the man, whose description of the militants’ activities matched those offered by four neighbours. Locals were quoted as saying that until just a few weeks ago, the bombed-out customs-police building in Timbuktu was one of bustling training centers populated not only by local al Qaeda-linked militants but also by hundreds of Boko Haram

LEARN MANNERS: A Must Read

A young lady was waiting for her flight in the boarding room of a big airport. As she would need to wait many hours, she decided to buy a book to spend her time. She also bought a packet of cookies. She sat down in an armchair, in the VIP room of the airport, to rest and read in peace. Beside the armchair where the packet of cookies lay, a man sat down in the next seat, opened his magazine and started reading. When she took out the first cookie, the man took one also. She felt irritated but said nothing. She just thought: “What nerve! If I was in the mood I would punch him for daring!” For each cookie she took, the man took one too. This was infuriating her but she didn’t want to cause a scene. When only one cookie remained, she thought: “ah... What would this abusive man do now?” Then, the man, taking the last cookie, divided it into half, giving her one half. Ah! That was too much! She was much too angry now! In a huff, she insulted the man, took her bo

Nigeria: How to Make Criminal Laws Stronger and Effective

Opinion Lawyers yesterday canvassed for stronger criminal justice system in Nigeria to bring it at par with what obtains in other countries. Nigerian criminal laws, which are colonial based, has been described as weak and ineffective to deter crimes in the society. This has been described as responsible for light fines usually awarded in offences from misdemeanours to corruption. Prof Kevin Nwosu in a recent interview with Daily Trust harped on the need for reforms of the nation's justice system. "There is no doubt that our criminal justice system is congested, weak and slow. I think the first attempt at reform should be designing mechanism to free the system from the log jam that it has come to be known", Prof Nwosu said. Case For Stiffer Sanctions Against Promos By Mobile Operators

Image
By Maxwell Onoja The recent ban imposed by the Nigerian Communications Commission on lotteries and promotions being conducted by mobile phone network operators is one that has received mixed reactions in the media, some of which are against the ban.  Arguably, the key point by those opposed to the ban is that promotions and lotteries have contributed to lowering the costs of services. This may be true in some case because as operators compete to offer perks to woo more subscribers, they end up inreduced prices for some consumers. Some others are opposed to the ban because its ban has deprived media houses and advertising agencies of a major source of income. While one will not dispute some of these arguments, the truth is that only few consumers benefit from lotteries and promotions at the detriment of the majority of the subscribers. It is not all subscribers that devote their precious time seeking promotions that have also become too frequent, and sometimes, confusing.

MR. Kester Ifeadi is the President of Organisation For the Advancement of Anioma Culture, OFAAC, in this interview ahead the ten year anniversary of OFAAC, he disclosed that the organisation has restored the Anioma identity. Ifeadi also noted that OFAAC has become the rallying point for Anioma sons and daughters since inception. He spoke to CHARLES KUMOLU HOW has the journey of OFAAC been since 2003 andhow did you get the OFAAC story started? I am a typical and foremost Anioma son. Army Corporal Guns down Police Inspector.

BY TAYE OBATERU & FOM FONDONG JOS — An army corporal, Tuesday, shot dead a Police Inspector in Mikang Local Government Area of Plateau State following an argument. The duo, who were security officials on duty in the local government, had a misunderstanding which resulted in a shouting match between them before the soldier pulled the trigger, killing the policeman. It was gathered that the problem started at about 12:30 p.m. when the inspector and the corporal began to exchange words following which their colleagues intervened and tried to pacify them. But apparently still bitter about the hot exchange of words, the soldier reportedly went for his gun, corked it and shot the police inspector, simply identified as Doe, at close range. One of the security men, who confirmed the shooting, said they were shocked to hear gunshots after they had pleaded with their colleagues to keep the peace and on rushing to the scene, they found the policeman on the ground. As in the case of the women against the Gwong Gwom Jos,it took the intervention of security operatives and respected individuals to restore order to a charged atmosphere. The peace-building meetings came as a part of a sensitization tour which the Special Task Force (STF) started last week and would end today. The Gwong Gwom Jos provoked the women when he said women who came outin black to protest the killing of their yout
